Data Warehousing
Data Warehousing will break the boundaries of database technology to become
the core of informational processing.
Many corporations are actively looking for new technologies that will assist
them in becoming more profitable and competitive. Gaining competitive advantage
requires that companies accelerate their decision making process so that they
can respond quickly to change. One key to this accelerated decision making is
having the right information, at the right time, easily accessible.
Data exists in abundance in the corporate computer environment but is very often
unusable to support decision making because it is spread across multiple systems,
platforms, and locations creating issues with data integrity and making access
in a timely fashion next to impossible. The data is also unstructured, non-integrated,
aged or polluted . But, data is the raw material for information and with Data
Warehousing it can be converted into clean, usable, and profitable information.
